How We Verify Listings
Every laundry shop on LaundryAtlas is assigned an Accuracy Score — a number from 0 to 100 that reflects how complete, current, and verified its information is. This page explains exactly how that score works, what the badges on each listing mean, and what shop owners can do to improve their score.
The Accuracy Score
Our nightly process recalculates the Accuracy Score for every shop we refresh. The score is built from seven independent signals:
| Signal | Points |
|---|---|
| Google Business Profile verified | +25 |
| Owner has claimed and confirmed the listing | +20 |
| 5 or more customer reviews on Google | +15 |
| Active Facebook page matched | +15 |
| Phone number present on listing | +10 |
| Data refreshed within the last 30 days | +10 |
| Shop has at least one photo | +5 |
Maximum possible score: 100
What the Badges Mean
Each listing displays one of three badges based on its Accuracy Score:
Verified — Score 80 to 100
The shop has a verified Google Business Profile, a claimed listing, recent reviews, and up-to-date contact information. This is our highest confidence tier. Most Verified shops have been confirmed directly by their owners.
Community Listed — Score 50 to 79
The shop exists and its core details appear accurate, but not all signals are confirmed. It may have a Google listing without a claimed LaundryAtlas profile, or it may be missing a phone number or photos. Use with reasonable confidence.
Needs Update — Score below 50
The listing is incomplete or hasn't been refreshed recently. Hours, pricing, or contact details may be out of date. We recommend calling ahead before visiting. If you're the owner, claiming your listing is the fastest way to fix this.
Where Our Data Comes From
LaundryAtlas listings are built from two sources:
Google Places API
Our nightly scraper queries Google Places for laundry shops across the cities we cover. It pulls the shop's name, address, phone number, rating, review count, opening hours, and any available photos. This forms the baseline for each listing. We refresh up to 50 shops per night on a rotating queue, so every shop is updated at least once every 30 days.
Owner-Submitted Information
Shop owners who claim their listing on LaundryAtlas can update their details directly: pricing, services offered, delivery areas, photos, and a shop description. Owner-submitted data takes precedence over scraped data for the fields they've filled in. Owners are notified when their listing is due for review.
Ratings and review counts displayed on LaundryAtlas are sourced from Google Maps via the Google Places API. They reflect user-submitted reviews on Google and are not collected or moderated by LaundryAtlas.
Reporting an Error
If you visit a shop and find that the address is wrong, the hours are outdated, or the shop has permanently closed, you can report it directly from the listing page. Look for the "Report an issue" link near the bottom of any shop page.
Reports are reviewed manually. We typically update flagged listings within 2–5 business days. If the shop owner has claimed the listing, they're notified of the report and can correct it themselves.
